The most heavily shorted stocks on US exchanges, ranked by days to cover. Every FINRA member firm must report its short positions twice a month under Rule 4560. This pulls that filing directly, then adds float so you can see short interest as a percentage of the shares actually available to trade.

How to read this. Short interest is the number of shares sold short and not yet covered. Days to cover is short interest divided by average daily volume, so it estimates how many trading days it would take shorts to buy back their position. Percent of float compares short interest to the shares actually available to trade, which is usually more meaningful than comparing it to total shares outstanding.
Limitations. FINRA collects this twice a month and publishes it with a lag of about eight business days, so positions may already have changed. Only exchange listed securities with meaningful volume are ranked here. Float figures come from a third party and are not available for every symbol.
